Veg Burger

This Burger Recipe covers everything needed to make delightful veggie burgers from scratch, including how to prepare and pan fry delicious homemade vegetable patties.

Ingredients- 

  • Uptown fresh lettuce 
  • 3 potatoes 
  • 1 medium size carrot 
  • 6-7 French beans 
  • 1/3-1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas 
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions 
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic or 1/2 tsp garlic paste 
  • 2 tsp chopped ginger 
  • 1 tsp chopped green chilies 
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves 
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder 
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder 
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder 
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 5-6 tbsp bread crumbs 
  • Salt as per taste 
  • 5-6 tbsp oil 


Directions- 

  • Rinse and steam or boil 3 medium sized potatoes, 1 medium carrot, 8-9 French beans, and 1/3 cup peas. 
  • Peel and chop the veggies and place them with the green peas in a pan. 
  • Add water just about covering the vegetables. Cover and simmer on medium low flame until veggies are fork tender. 
  • Now mash the potatoes and let it cool down. Then add the chopped veggies. 
  • Mix everything well and keep it aside. 
  • Now finely chop the onions and crush garlic and green chilies in a mortar- pestle. 
  • Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan. Add the ginger-garlic-Chili paste. Sauté for some seconds.
  • Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown. 
  • Add the coriander, cumin, garam masala powder, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  • Stir and mix the spices with the rest of the mixture. 
  • Switch off the flame and then add chopped coriander leaves.
  • Add the sauté onions mixture to the mashed veggies.
  • Add salt and bread crumbs and mix well. 
  • Make the veggie patties as the same size of the burger buns or small. 
  • Now take 2-3 tbsp oil for pan frying the patties. Flip the patty until one side is golden brown.
  • Slice the burger buns into halves. 
  • Spread some butter on the buns.
  • Toast the buttered sides of the buns. 
  • Spread mayonaise dressing.
  • Place the vegetable patty.
  • Top up with sliced veggies like lettuce, onions, tomatoes or cucumber slices. 
  • Your veggie burger is ready.
